Stanley Enow, born Stanley Ebai Enow, is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern Cameroonian hip-hop and a pioneer of the country’s contemporary urban sound. Born in Bamenda and raised between Cameroon and South Africa, Enow’s early exposure to diverse cultures played a defining role in shaping his artistic identity. Before fully committing to music, he worked as a television presenter and media personality, experiences that sharpened his understanding of audience engagement and storytelling.
His breakthrough came in 2013 with the release of Hein Père, a high-energy single that quickly became a cultural phenomenon across Cameroon and beyond. The song’s success marked a turning point for the country’s hip-hop scene, positioning Enow as a leading voice of a new generation determined to take Cameroonian music to international platforms. In 2014, he achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Cameroonian artist to win an MTV Africa Music Award (Best New Act), cementing his reputation as a continental trailblazer.
Stanley Enow’s music is characterised by its fusion of hip-hop, Afropop and dancehall elements, often delivered in a mix of English, French and local dialects.
