Spirits Indigenous

Spirits Indigenous is a Swazi group based in Maputo, Mozambique. They started off as an artist’s development initiative in 2007 and eventually became a musical ensemble in 2010. The outfit is made up of Gcebile Dlamini, Thobile Magagula, playing makhoyane and sitolotolo and Bongiwe Dlamini, playing didgeridoo. Thobile and Bongiwe are permanently based in Maputo. Gcebile is the only member based in Swaziland.

Their shows were mainly booked in Maputo where they have performed at numerous clubs and hangout spots. Their music is a fusion of ancient African instruments which are inspired by native rhythms and the lifestyle of Swaziland. They sing in SiSwati and English languages. They use instruments such as the makhoyane, sitolotolo and didgeridoo, thus combining modern and traditional atmospheres.
