Bio
Spartz (real name Spartz Motlhamme) is a Johannesburg-born South African jazz-soul vocalist, songwriter, and performer known for fusing Neo-Soul with indigenous African sounds. Hailing from Alexandra Township, her music is deeply rooted in themes of heritage, identity, spirituality, and the experiences of young Black South Africans.
She attended the National School of the Arts, Began her musical journey with the EP 18|25. Released her debut album, 21 & Black, in 2020, followed by the critically acclaimed album AWAKE in 2022.
She was Nominated for Best Jazz Album at the 2023 Metro FM Music Awards for her album AWAKE.
She was Featured on Kabza De Small’s 2022 album KOA II Part 1 on the track "Ingabe". And Participated in the musical production Sikhahlel'uOR (A Tribute to Oliver) at the South African State Theatre and provided vocals for the Netflix show African Folk Tales (Mamlambo).she Paid homage to Letta Mbulu's classic "Jikijela" for Heritage Month in 2024.
Spartz has expressed a desire to collaborate with artists such as Msaki, Nduduzo Makhathini, and Simphiwe Dana.
