Sony Achiba
Bio
Sony Achiba (born Emmanuel John Bandick Dankwa) is a veteran Ghanaian musician, producer, and dancer. He is famously recognized as the pioneer of "Hip-Dia," a unique musical sub-genre that fuses Ghanaian Hiplife and Highlife with Indian musical rhythms and aesthetics.
He was born in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Sony Achiba began his career as a professional dancer after an injury ended his aspirations of becoming a professional soccer player.
Known as the "Indian Man" or "Oseikrom Prince Charles," he gained massive popularity in the early 2000s for his distinctive style, which included wearing Indian-inspired attire and incorporating Indian melodies and dance moves into his performances.
His breakthrough came with the album Sony Maba (2002). Some of his most popular songs include:
