Shumba Ratshega

Bio

Shumba Ratshega is a musician from Botswana. He is one of the country’s true musical exports having broken barriers to expose the local brand to countries like Tanzania, South Africa and Namibia. He has rubbed shoulders with Africa's best performers on international stages like Nigeria's world acclaimed P-Square as well as celebrated Zimbabwean musician Oliver Mtukuzi.

Ratshega debuted the music scene with an album titled ‘Masiela’ in 2005. The project showed signs of brilliance. His second project ‘Makhirikhiri’ was an instant success and earned him a household name in the country’s music scene. A song from the album titled ‘Mmonnamogolo’ did very well on local radio and television programs. The track is an illustration of how greed and moral decay are corroding the society.

In July 2016, he released an eight track album titled ‘Loso la Monnamogolo’. The project features songs such as ‘MmaMokgona ja bangwe ja ha e di mo paella’, ‘Chingwinyana Chiyapo’, ‘Botswana o a kgala’ and others. The album was produced by Bullet Ketshabile of Bullet Music Production Studios and Ant Studios which is well known for recording international artists such as Oliver Mthukuzi.
