Selam Ethiopia

Selam Ethiopia is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit music organisation with offices in Stockholm and Addis Ababa. Selam organizes and promotes festivals, concerts, tours, club nights and forums presenting global music with sounds from mainly Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean in professional venues. Selam owns the independent record label, Selam Sounds.

They function in multiple capacities. The fact that their interests, activities and expertise are diverse results in valuable synergies, which gives their organization sustainability and makes them more productive.

Selam works with development within the music industry in a Swedish, Nordic and international context. They operate a Swedish/East African music network and long-term program of capacity building projects in Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania with the aim to strengthen the infrastructure within the music sector.

Their activities and projects contribute through organizing workshops and training for musicians, producers, sound & light engineers, managers, promoters, and music journalists, and by establishing and facilitating networks between professional actors within the music sector, on a local, national, regional and international level.

Selam Ethiopia, is registered as an international cultural NGO in Ethiopia since 2005. They have an office and a studio on site in Addis Ababa. They were also registered as a local NGO in Uganda in 2013.
The activities are administrated by national coordinators in East Africa and the Selam team in Stockholm.
