SekenHand the Band/brand

In 2017, with assistance from Concerts SA Aural Sense Entertainment and publishing, organised a live music Kasi tour titled, "Ekse Mamela". Included in that line up was a then little known Ekurhuleni Daveyton based band, SekenHand, under the leadership of Brandon Chawane. In 2022 the band was solidified into its current form, made up of Thapelo Ngwenya on bass, and Thabiso Perman on drums, Sfiso Atomza on guitar and vox and Brandon chawawe on Lead guitar and vox. After a few rehearsals, they held open rehearsals that culminated in a residency at Maboneng's Museum of African Design. This residency prompted the band to gather resources to get into studio and formalise their direction. The collective has been featured on South African talk radio 702 with Relebogile Mabotja and national radio station, Radio 2000 with veteran DJ Paul Mnisi. Their Single "Sweet Bhatata Blues" was released in anticipation of their performance at Nirox sculpture Park March 19 2023 and is available on all streaming platforms. The song, afro blues-esque instrumentals tells of a beautiful love story, enchanted by wide vocals and easy lyricism. It has featured on Kaya FM's world music show curated by the outstanding Nicky B. The SekenHand setlist is composed of songs written by Sfiso Atomza & also Brandon Chawane, Atomza brings his experience having written for South African band The Muffinz, Brandon is a songwriter and accomplished guitarist who is founder of the horizon duo. In the mix they throw in South African cover songs like only they can. All the band members were/are previously in other bands and have come together to record some new songs and perform and contribute to the live music scene in Johannesburg, South Africa.

SekenHand is eagerly looking to perform live for various audiences and build their sound / brand and have been using independent resources such as home studios including the expertise of various studios in Johannesburg to record their EP, due for release late 2023.
