Sandz

Sandz is Swaziland’s rising musician (as of March 2016) who is currently enjoying major success with the ubiquitous ‘Vuma’. ‘The song is a slow piano driven song that garnered him attention from radio stations in neighboring South Africa. Sandz started learning the guitar seven years ago. This saw him becoming a songwriter. Since the release of ‘Vuma’, the demand for more music from his fans increased prompting him to work on an album (starting March 2016). His song ‘Vuma’ was allocated sixth spot on the Durban radio station’s Gagasi FM, Afro Countdown. The music video was released in April, 2015.

In November of that year, he released another single called ‘Mbali’ in honour of the maidens who recently passed away. The track celebrates Swazi culture in the face of criticism and is a testament to the beauty and pride of Swazi women. Written by Sandsz himself early 2015, the gifted artist first performed at the request of Princess Sikhanyiso at the Miss Tourism Swaziland ceremony in July.

Sandz counts Salif Keita as a musical influence as he citing that he stayed true to himself and performed worldwide using his native language.
