Royal Philosopher
Bio
Born on 17 October 1979 in Banjul, The Gambia, Abdul Aziz Baldeh, best known as Royal Philosopher, is one of the most notable reggae and dancehall artists in the country. Abdul adored music at an early age. From a tender age, he recited church melodies and later become a member of a local church choir.
He draws his musical inspiration from the late music icon Michael Jackson whose music he mimicked. He occasionally danced some of Jackson’s styles while in high school. He became a reggae fanatic when he listened to the late Garnet Silk’s music whose lyrics he mastered and imitated.
In 1999, he joined a music crew called The Royal Family. The group released a debut album entitled ‘Patience’ in May 2001. The project was produced by Hakeem of Sunland Music. The album did fairly well thus earning them recognition in the country’s music scene
The music outfit disbanded in 2006 and Royal philosopher decided to pursue a solo career.
In 2013 he released a single called ‘Meant To Be’ followed by another one titled ‘Equal Right’. As of 2016, he was working on his debut album.
