Rex Rabanye
Bio
Michael Morake Rabanye was born on 13 March 1944 in Potchefstroom, South Africa, he passed on 10 October 2010. He was best known as Rex Rabanye, he was a South African jazz, fusion and soulful pop musician, he was proficient on the keyboard and guitar.
At the age of 15 Rex Rabanye was already being taught keyboard by his father Samuel Rabanye. In the late 1960s he co-founded hot soul group Teenage Lovers, after releasing some music with the group Rex branched out on his own. He gave us his iconic hits, “O’nketsang” in 1986 and “Moya moya” in (1987). In May 2006, Rex Rabanye was honored at the SAMA 12 with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
