Rashid Lanie

Bio

Rashid Lanie is an internationally acclaimed award-winning composer, arranger, pianist, producer, and recording artist. He won the 2016 Rapid Lion Award for Best Soundtrack for the movie Kalushi - The Solomon Mahlangu Story. He has also worked with international stars such as Chaka Khan, Paul Simon, Jack Browne, Will.I.AM, Ray Parker Jr., and many more. During the Apartheid era, he wrote a song The People Want People in celebration of Nelson Mandela's release from prison. In 1994 he musically directed the performance of Lion King album Rhythm of the Pridelands, featuring LEBO M, Hans Zimmer, and musicians from Stevie Wonder and Madonna's bands. Rashid performed in the World Cup 2010 Kick-off Celebration Concert in South Africa with John Legend, Shakira, Alicia Keys and Black Eyes Peas.
