Bio
Qhamisa Mpayipeli, born in Esingeni, Cofimvaba, Eastern Cape, is a celebrated gospel artist renowned for her profound musical talent and songwriting prowess. Starting as a soloist in a community choir, she eventually performed backing vocals for the acclaimed gospel singer Lusanda Mcinga, where she discovered her gift for songwriting.
Qhamisa has written award-winning songs for many renowned gospel artists, including Betusile's hit "Nyange Lemihla" She has also composed songs for other musicians such as Bulie Mhatu "Uyawubuyisa", M-Siya "Onke Amadolo", EBMQ "Impi ka Moya" and Lusanda Mcinga "Aniwaboni". Her debut album, "Simbiza Ngamagama," won an Ingoma Award for Best Composed Album and the Best National Traditional Song at the Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards. Her second album, "Ndamemeza ku Thixo," continues to make waves, earning accolades such as Best Album at Cape Town’s Ukhonukamva Annual Awards.
Recognised for her contributions, Qhamisa has received numerous awards, including Best Female Gospel Artist at the Ingoma Awards. She also hosts the popular music show "Melodi" on Dumisa TV, where she connects deeply with her audience. Through her music and media presence, Qhamisa inspires and heals, solidifying her legacy as a significant figure in South African gospel music.
