Prudence Katomeni

Bio

Prudence Katomeni Mbofana is a talented jazz songstress who was born in Harare in 1977. She is vibrant and sassy, and listening to her is never boring. Coming from a musical, Christian background, Prudence began singing in public at the tender age of 8 and throughout her school days was always involved in choirs. After completing her A-levels she joined a band called The Vice, where she gained valuable experience. She also worked with the late Chris Chabuka. 

She then joined Jazz Invitation and stayed with them for a decade, also touring with Tanga wekwaSando in the UK and South Africa. The band released its debut album, titled 'The Rehearsal Room', which included the hit 'BP', and then toured Namibia. Prudence also featured on the Cool Crooners' 2005 album 'Isatilo' and toured extensively with them. In 2011 she performed with an all-female band called Wocalling at the Molde International Jazz Festival and the Mela Festival in Norway. In 2013 she performed four sold-out shows in Denmark.

Prudence is currently working on her much-anticipated, self-titled debut solo album. Also an accomplished actress, Prudence acted in the movie 'More Time', winning her various awards throughout Southern Africa. She is married to businessman Comfort Mbofana.
