Bio
Proph is a South African multidisciplinary artist, producer, and poet whose work moves at the pace of presence. As a pioneer of Poetic Soultronica, his work is rooted in soul, hip-hop, and experimental sound. His music is less about spectacle and more about atmosphere - spaces where softness, restraint, and emotional honesty are allowed to breathe.
His compositions feel lived-in: warm chords, patient rhythms, and subtle textures that invite the listener to lean closer rather than be overwhelmed. Whether through instrumental pieces or spoken-word-inflected works, Proph creates music that functions as reflection - mirrors for inner worlds, moments of stillness, and intentional motion.
At the heart of his practice is a devotion to process. Proph approaches music as a form of listening before speaking, allowing songs to unfold slowly and truthfully. This philosophy extends beyond sound into a wider creative universe he is building - one concerned with memory, care, and the quiet strength of choosing alignment over urgency.
Releases like FriLay, Sunset Eternal, and Slow Start mark the beginning of an evolving catalogue that values depth over volume and embodiment over performance. Proph’s work doesn’t chase attention; it creates room - for feeling, for healing, and for remembering that gentleness can be a form of power.
This is not music for the background, it’s music for the moment you arrive back into yourself.
