Bio

Progress Chipfumo was born on 9 December 1977 in Chiredzi, Zimbabwe. He was raised in Highfield. His music highlights social ills and some of the challenges that people go through on a daily basis. He is one of the talented guitarists in the country. Songs such as ‘Nhaka’, ‘vanochema’, ‘Tsiurika’, ‘garwe’, ‘Papi Pacho’, ‘Wakanganwa’, ‘Hold My Hand’ and ‘Chakafukidza’ have made him popular owing to their rich message. It took him long to penetrate the music industry but creativity and skill on the guitar makes him one of the best guitarists in the country. He started off with the now defunct Hohodza Band and later formed his own.

Proggy, as he is popularly known to his fans, went on sabbatical owing to his health challenges. This forced his to stop recording for a while but he made a come back with with his fifth nine- track album titled ‘Hold My Hand’. It was recorded and produced by renowned guitarist Clive “Mono” Mukundu at his Monolio Studios. He has to date released five albums. He has shared the stage with big names like Alick Macheso, Oliver Mtukudzi, Jah Prayzah, Suluman Chimbetu among others
