Peoples Emcee

Peoples Emcee is Benjamin Zgambo, an independent rap artist based in Area 23, Lilongwe, Malawi.

He discovered his talent when he was eight years old. After realizing his natural love for music, he trained himself how to flow on musical instruments. He thus developed skills in freestyle, rapping, singing, song writing, performing and recording.

His music is highly influenced by hip hop, rock and jazz genres, and he performs with a live band consisting of Rosha Vole (Konkalazi, Neil and the New Vibration, Reggae Kings, Rockers band) on bass guitar, Madalitso Symon Phiri (Mbanaye, Moto buu, Positive Yut) on guitar, Victor Kambona (Armageddon band, Bazzooka band, Music Crossroads band) on keyboard and Cuthbet Masinja (Muthamera band, Pluckers band, Music Crossroads band, etc.) on drums. The band is very versatile and together they create an interesting and explosive genre mix on stage.

Peoples Emcee has worked on several singles and collaborations, and a number of EP projects. He has released the following EPs: From the Underground with Word (2013), Speak the Word (2014), Munthu (2015), @The Thug House Volume 1 (2016), 23 (2017), 23 Mix (2018), Muzikey (2019) and Malawi Yani released July 6th (2019).

He is a regular performer in Lilongwe open mic shows, and he performed at Tumaini Festival 2016 and Nkhotakota Music Festival 2019. He has shared stages with amongst others Hazel Mak, Peter Mawanga & The Amaravi Movement, Kim of Diamonds, Zathu band, Moto buu, just to mention a few.
