Bio
Pebbles – Soulful South African Singer/Songwriter
Since her breakout in 2005 with Playful Soul, Pebbles has been a defining voice in South African R&B and neo-soul. Her debut didn’t just make waves—it shifted the genre, earning two SAMA nominations and instantly distinguishing her as a standout talent with a voice that resonated deeply across the country.
By 2011, she returned with Phenomenal, a bold and refined follow-up that marked her artistic evolution. Co-produced with RJ Benjamin, the album offered a masterful blend of Anita Baker’s elegance and Amy Winehouse’s raw soul. Collaborations with respected names like Zubz, Nothende, and Tumi Molekane added lyrical weight and cross-genre appeal, solidifying her place as a versatile and vital contributor to the South African music landscape.
A former frontwoman of Newtown’s vibrant live scene, Pebbles has always embodied musical fluidity—effortlessly navigating jazz, soul, R&B, and Afro-influences. Her 2023 return with Love is a Verb—supported by the Concerts SA Digital Mobility Fund—was a warmly received comeback that reminded audiences of her vocal richness and emotional depth.
Now in full swing, the Playful Soul 20th Anniversary Sessions are a powerful testament to her legacy and continued relevance. With her signature authenticity and soul-driven storytelling, Pebbles continues to captivate audiences, affirming her place as one of South Africa’s most enduring and enchanting musical voices.
