Okay6east
Bio
Sifiso "Okay6east" Mogashua (born 2000) is a South African artist,
entrepreneur, and cultural voice rooted in Soweto’s trenches. He is best known as the founder of BAD
COMPANY., a music collective/label (or company) that channels the raw energy, and struggle of township life
into art.
Early Life & Background
Okay6east grew up in the township of Soweto, where life is marked by both hardship and vibrant communal
culture. Raised in a place where constraints are many, economic inequality, social pressures, limited resources
— he learned early that art could be more than expression, it could be survival, identity, resistance, escape.
From a young age, he was exposed to local music, street culture, and the stories of people around him. These
influences shaped not only his sound but also his philosophy: authenticity, community, and refusing to be
silenced by circumstance
Musical Vision & Career
Driven by a desire to tell stories that are often overlooked in mainstream media, Okay6east founded BAD
COMPANY. as more than just a brand or label — it is a platform. Through Bad Company, he collaborates, lifts
up emerging artists, and produces work that reflects Soweto’s heartbeat: struggle and triumph, pain and joy,
conflict and unity.
His work often features raw lyrics, strong beats, and a blending of influences: township rap, Afro-house, street
poetics, local languages, perhaps even global modes, always grounded in the Sowetan experience. He uses his
work to shed light on social issues — inequality, youth disenfranchisement, identity — but also to uplift,
inspire, and celebrate
