Oge Kimono

0GE KIMONO Bio Real name OGECHUKWU NWAMAKA ONWUBUYA is a Nigerian musician born on August 14, 1985 in Lagos Nigeria. It wasn’t long before she began to show interest in music. At the age of 10, Oge started singing as a hobby and later as a member of her high school choir. She picked it up professionally with the encouragement of her dad, the late legendary reggae icon Ras KIMONO who passed on in 2018. Between 2004 and 2010 she was in Europe backing up for various artistes and bands including TUKLAN, ADE BANTU, ROCKY DAWUNI and German reggae artist UWE BANTON after cutting her teeth as a back- up singer in her late father’s band, The Massive Dread Band, a band which she has since adopted after her dad’s demise and which backs her in all her live performances. Oge Kimono whose dream is to surpass her father’s achievements as an artiste have already experienced such stages as the Summer Jam, Ruhr Reggae, World Cup (Germany 2006) and Afrocentric Test while working as a back up singer and now that she is in charge of her own career looks forward to performing on even bigger stages. On June 10, 2019 she released her debut album, a 10 tracker titled “Good Ole Days”, with the lead track which also happens to be the album title, a laid – back rub-a-dub feel, reminiscing about the good old days when things were nice and sweet, 24 Hours is a hard hitting social commentary track on the state of affairs in Africa and the world in general. Some other tracks on the album include Safe, Mama Love and Drum and Bass amongst others.
