Nyangemi
Bio
Nyangemi is a Kenyan vocalist and storyteller whose music is deeply rooted in Kikuyu culture and Christian faith. Born into a musical family—her grandfather a singer and music teacher—Nyangemi’s journey began with poetry performances in school and later blossomed through her high school choir.
After high school, she toured as PoeticBee, captivating audiences with her powerful spoken word. But her heart found deeper resonance when she returned to her hometown, reconnecting with her Kikuyu roots. Collaborating with her brother Tito Wagithomo, the duo recorded a Kikuyu rendition of Adele’s Hello, which sparked widespread interest and marked the beginning of her journey into indigenous music.
Today, Nyangemi blends storytelling, traditional rhythms, and soulful vocals to create music that is both modern and timeless. Her songs often reflect themes of identity, faith, heritage, and community.
