Nosisi Mavela
Bio
Nosisi Mavela's musical journey began in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth, and took her to various parts of South Africa. Despite facing challenges in her early life, Nosisi's talent for singing was discovered by music conductors at Arthur Nyobho Primary, leading to her appointment as a lead singer during school assemblies.
Nosisi's passion for music drove her to participate in the Shell Road to Fame competition, where she composed a song on stage, showcasing her talent and determination. She continued to pursue her musical aspirations, studying music theory and joining the choir at Cowan High School. Her talent caught the attention of Makhaya Mjana, leading to her recruitment into the renowned Joy of Africa choir in Port Elizabeth.
After high school, Nosisi auditioned at the ArtsCape Theater in Cape Town and was immediately hired, marking the beginning of her professional musical career. She became a full-time backing vocalist for the late Mr. Stompie Mavi and later co-founded Kiki C Nosisi Entertainment. Nosisi's collaborations with influential figures in the music industry, including the late Mr. Lawrence Matshiza and Herbie Tsoeli, led to opportunities to work with esteemed artists and tour internationally.
In 2024, Nosisi was awarded the prestigious ISAKHONO Performing Arts Award, funded by the Mandela Bay Theatre Complex (MBTC). She also won the Mandela Bay Arts Festival with her performance titled "Uhambo Lwam," showcasing her talent and telling her own story through music.
