Nkonzo ZA

Anele Nkonzo, better known by his stage name Nkonzo ZA  is a rising South African singer, songwriter, and storyteller. He hails from Umzimkhulu in KwaZulu-Natal and draws heavily on his Bhaca heritage and South Africa’s traditional musical roots.

Nkonzo’s musical journey began in childhood, singing in his primary-school choir before exploring hip-hop as a teenager. Over time, he gravitated toward a sound that blends tradition and soul, an expressive mixture of Maskandi, Afrosoul, and ethno-world music.In 2025, he released his debut EP Ubizo, a project he describes as his spiritual calling. The EP deals with deep themes such as faith, resilience, childhood trauma, faith, and self-discovery, and aims to heal and inspire listeners.With his smooth, soul-stirring vocals and genuine storytelling rooted in heritage, Nkonzo ZA is fast becoming a voice for those seeking meaningful, culturally grounded music. He doesn’t just aim to entertain, he wants to connect, heal, and renew a sense of purpose through his songs.
