Bio
Ninety6 is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and music producer. His birth name is Alabo Tuonims. He was born on 16 February 1996 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He grew up in an Anglican household as the only boy among five siblings. From a young age he was drawn to music. He started writing songs at age 15 and learned to play instruments including keyboard and drums.
He attended Kings & Queens High School and Spring Foundation School in Bonny Island for primary and secondary education. Later he earned a bachelor of science degree in Information Technology from a university in Ghana. After graduation he returned home and studied music production and audio engineering, then built his own studio where he began to refine his sound.
Ninety6 began his professional music career in 2021 under the stage name Ninety (formerly Ninety6). His first official single was Touch & Follow. He followed with other tracks including Unruly and Somebody. In 2022 he released his debut EP Rare Gem. The project showcases an Afro-fusion sound that blends Afrobeat, R&B, soul, dancehall and reggae influences. The EP explores themes of love, relationships and personal expression and highlights his versatility as a rising artist.
His music draws from earlier influences such as Michael Jackson, Damian Marley and Styl Plus. He describes his sound as Afro-fusion, aiming to combine soulful melodies and Afro-rhythms with emotional storytelling.
In 2022 he was chosen as one of the featured breakthrough artists by a major global music platform based in Nigeria, acknowledging him as an artist to watch. He continues to develop his craft, producing music that reflects personal experiences and reaching new audiences beyond his hometown.
