New Feel
Bio
New Feel is an emerging hip hop and rap artist from Maputo, Mozambique, born in 2005. He belongs to a new wave of young artists redefining the city’s underground music culture through experimentation, digital production, and a strong sense of local identity. Growing up in a rapidly evolving creative environment, his work reflects the realities, aspirations, and contradictions of Mozambican youth, blending sharp lyricism with contemporary hip hop influences.
His sound exists at the intersection of hip hop, Afro-fusion, and modern trap aesthetics, shaped by both global rap movements and Maputo’s distinct urban energy. New Feel is part of a broader artistic ecosystem that includes producers and artists such as Nandele, Giluuu, Navaa, Wild One94, Benny Bubblez, Tushimitsu, and 808DNA, all of whom are pushing new and experimental sounds within Mozambique’s music landscape. Together, they represent a generation less bound by traditional genre borders and more invested in innovation and self-expression.
Maputo’s cultural infrastructure plays a key role in this movement. Creative spaces such as 16Neto and Fundação Fernando Leite Couto have become important platforms for collaboration, performance, and artistic development, helping to sustain an independent and community-driven scene. Within this context, New Feel’s work stands out for its ability to capture the mood of a city in transition, where electronic, hip hop, and Afro-influenced sounds increasingly overlap.
While established artists like Laylizzy and Bander Artista continue to shape the broader modern hip hop landscape in Mozambique, New Feel represents its emerging future. His music signals a shift toward more experimental, youth-led expressions that reflect both local realities and global conversations, positioning him as a distinctive voice within Mozambique’s next generation of hip hop artists.
