Music Managers Forum of South Africa (MMFSA)

Bio

The MMFSA is a formally constituted body that is aimed at giving music managers more than an individual voice by raising the standards of the industry and recognising the achievements and qualifications of artist and band managers in the music environment. Its purpose is to represent all music managers in South Africa to speak with one voice and effectively lobby government for support, other music institutions and bodies, be representative at trade fairs and international bodies such as the International Music Manager’s Forum.

The forum strives to bring together the business of all different genres of music to one table, speaking as one voice about the practise, vision and execution of South African music; encourage and develop professional, ethical and effective management for the music industry in Africa; and develop SA musicians and music in all its many facets by providing management guidance and training. The forum hosts a series of workshops that are aimed at the young music manager and artists, to enable interaction and empowerment in this vital sector of our culture and future as South Africans. The monthly range of workshops target specific issues within Music Management. The overall aim of these workshops is to produce a self-sufficient artist community in SA – it is possible to have a career in the music industry without being a household name. The workshops also provide good networking opportunities for managers and artists.
