Bio
Jade Alves, popularly known as Money Badoo, is a rapper, singer, songwriter, stylist, and creative director born in Ennerdale, South Africa. Growing up in various parts of Johannesburg, Money Badoo's environment played a pivotal role in shaping her distinctive and relatable music and fashion brands.
Her musical journey began at the age of 12 when she started singing in church, but she soon transitioned to writing poetry and rapping over beats she found on YouTube. In 2019, Money Badoo released her debut single, All My Friends, a raw and energetic track that propelled her into the music industry. The song caught the attention of notable industry figures, including Ebro, who featured it in the Discovered on Apple Music segment of The Ebro Show.
In 2020, Money Badoo teamed up with friend and collaborator Sauwcy to release MK-Ultra, a trap EP that solidified her place in the South African music scene. The success of the project led to collaborations with several of the country’s rising stars, including Blxckie, Lordkez, and Doowap. Her continued rise was marked by the release of her solo debut project, PORN$TAR, which blends elements of trap, soul, R&B, and hyperpop-inflected rap. This success led to her selection as Apple Music's Up Next artist in South Africa.
