Mo Laudi
Bio
Mo Laudi is a South African DJ, producer, artist, and founder of the Globalisto label, known for his pioneering role in the development of Afro-electronic music between Johannesburg, London, and Paris. Active since the early 2000s, he was among the first South African DJs to establish a visible platform for South African house, kwaito, Afro house, and forward-looking Afro-electronic sounds in London, later expanding this practice internationally from Paris.
His work is marked by a distinctive fusion of Afro house, acid, techno, deep house, and experimental club music, shaped by South African rhythmic traditions and diasporic dancefloor culture. Through his productions, DJ sets, and label activity, Mo Laudi has contributed to a broader understanding of African electronic music as both a club language and a cultural force.
As founder of Globalisto, he has developed a catalogue that reflects his singular sonic identity, while collaborations with artists including Jerome Sydenham, Angélique Kidjo, Philippe Cohen Solal, Ala.ni, Flavia Coelho, Michelle Blades, and Talisker have expanded his reach across electronic, African, and global music scenes. Early Afro-electronic DJ from South Africa active in London and Paris before the Afrohouse boom.
Beyond the club, Mo Laudi is also internationally recognised for his work in contemporary art, sound installation, and curating, which gives his musical practice a rare depth and conceptual dimension. His trajectory places him at the intersection of Afro house, underground club culture, sound art, and African diasporic modernity.
Mo Laudi is widely regarded as one of the key South African figures to have helped shape the visibility of Afro-electronic music in Europe before its later global expansion.
