MLISADA

Bio

MLISADA stands for Music, Life Skills, And Destitution Alleviation, and their mission is to reduce the number of children living on the streets of Kampala and provide opportunities to the less privileged children of Uganda.

MLISADA provide a safe haven for children while also preparing them for their future by means of education and mentoring.
Music is the heart of the organization and the main source of income. All children are encouraged to join the brass band or other performing groups like the Acrobatics team and the Cultural Group.

Life Skills are key ingredients that help these marginalized children to build a better future. MLISADA strives to give all the children the opportunity to attend school and at the home they are consistently providing additional programs including arts and crafts, hygiene education, tutoring and more.

Brass for Africa works very closely with MLISADA and supports them by creating an income stream as we fund them to teach music and mentor the children at The Good Shepherd Home and Bethlehem Orphanage. Brass for Africa funds the employment of Musical Director Godfrey Mboira and also encourages the senior children at MLISADA to gain new skills by becoming music teaching assistants at the homes.
Brass for Africa also supplies instruments, music and technical support to the MLISADA bands and has enabled UK brass teachers to visit and work with the young musicians in the home.
