Mjikijelwa Ngubane

Bio

Ichalaha lika Shafuza (born on 17 September 1983 Sbongiseni 'Mjikijelwa' Ngubane) was a maskandi performing artist and 12-string guitarist.

Mjikijelwa died on 25 May 2018.

He started his music career in 2001 as a dancer and composer under the mentorship of the late Khulekani Kwakhe 'Mgqumeni' Khumalo. He composed several songs for Mgqumeni’s albums, including 'Ithwasa Lami', which showcased his flourishing talent.

In 2009 Mjikijelwa established himself as a solo artist. He also composed and produced albums for four different groups on annual basis: 'Umjik'jelwa', 'Amangcukumane', 'Omenzelwa' and 'Ichalaha likaShafuza.' He has led four groups which were produced by his company Mjikijelwa Music Production.

Since 2009, he has produced 18 Albums and two DVDs. Mjikijelwa has also produced other artists under his label such as Piwa Manqele, Nhlanhla Mseleku, Amafikalishona, Indodakazi YeNtandane and Mpilo Mkhwanazi.

Mjikijelwa has been nominated for various traditional music awards, including the SATMAs and AmaNtshontsho Awards. He has also performed at numerous prestigious traditional music festivals and events.
