Bio
Mistar Drey, born Mark Ouma Owino is a Kenyan male songwriter, musician, recording and performing artist with a flair for Afrobeat music, a fusion of rnb and pop sound with a touch of Swahili vibes . Mistar Drey has consistently worked on creating music incorporating his life experiences and that of the world at large. He is also a writer, film producer and a journalist by profession. He points to Otile Brown, Sauti Sol, Wizkid, Chris Brown, Burna Boy as being some of his influences when he started doing music. His outstanding performances have been hailed by fellow artists and audiences as his stage presence and choreography invigorates his growing fan base across Kenya and East Africa. His passion for music started at a tender age as he interacted with music as a child with curiosity into different styles of the often Swahili songs, Reggae, Rnb and Hip-hop.
Mistar Drey’s journey in music officially started in April, 2019 marked by his decision to pursue music professionally, embarking on their debut single titled Zimenishika, under the duo group (The Nilote). He later on went on as a solo artist in 2020 after leaving the duo group and has since released several singles and feature collaborations.
He is deeply convinced of his music talent being a tool for transformation and outreach to his audience and society. Mistar Drey has been consistent in his music career, has released his anticipated Extended Play, “Shades of Drey” which he made public on December, 2021. The EP which dropped July 22nd 2022, is consisted of 5 tracks, 4 singles and one collaboration featuring Pollution, an up-and-coming rapper from Nairobi, Kenya.
