Max Jaffe

Bio

Max Jaffe is a music coordinator at Komai. He is responsible for assisting in the building of relevant class curriculum and teacher training program. His love for music began at a tender age. He was influenced by his mother and father who regularly taught him how to play the piano and drums. The practice earned him so much experience such that he ended up performing in his native Bay Area.

He is also a volunteer working on a program called Music 4 Malawi. The program was implemented with the idea of engaging music students and their teachers. He holds a B.F.A. from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. He is also a member of experimental folk outfit In One Wind, jazz collective The Chives, chamber rock group Killer BOB, and many others.

Apart from that, he has worked with dance companies such as Také Dance and Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance. He has also contributed to film scores and recordings. He is well-versed with a number of music genres such as jazz, rock, pop, folk, funk, various Afro-Carribean and Afro-Brazilian musics, free-improvisation, Afro-beat, chamber music, and more.
