Mavilos

Albert Malahlela, professionally known as Mavilos, is a multifaceted South African Afrobeat and Afro-Piano artist, singer, composer, dancer, performer, actor and entertainment entrepreneur. He is also the director of Dust2Gold Entertainment. Hailing from Dikgale Village in Polokwane, Limpopo, Mavilos has built a diverse career rooted in music, performance and African storytelling.

Music became Mavilos’ first love at an early age, beginning with his involvement in church and community choirs. His passion and dedication to the craft later led him to Johannesburg, where he worked alongside respected music legends such as Condry Ziqubu and Banza Kgasoane of Mango Groove.

In 2000, before the rise of digital music platforms, Mavilos released his debut album Tsena Lethabong, introducing audiences to his uplifting sound and genre-blending musical style. His music combines Afrobeat, Afro-pop, Afro-Piano and traditional African influences, often centred around themes of inspiration, love, perseverance and hope.

In 2003, Mavilos became the lead singer of the group Matshikos, a role that further expanded his reach across Southern Africa and internationally. During this period, he toured countries including Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom alongside the late Dan Tshanda of Splash fame.
