Mashonaland East Cultural Festival

Bio

Formerly called the Murehwa Uzumba Cultural Festival (MUCUF), the Mashonaland East Cultural Festival (MECAF) is an event held in Mashonaland East province of Zimbabwe. It was founded in 2010 by the late Chief Mangwende. He established it with the desire to have union, promotion and celebration of the rich artistic and cultural heritage of Murewa and Uzumba. It draws performers from many art disciplines.

Artists showcase their talent through live music performances, traditional dances, drama, and games. Traditional dance performers who regularly attend the event include Ngoma Dzepasi, the Chibuku Neshamwari National Dance champions and Bulawayo-based Umkhati Arts.
