Bio
Majeeed, born Ekeh Chiaka Joseph on 28 November 1998 in Lagos, is a Nigerian Afropop singer, songwriter and producer known for blending warm melodies with candid, emotive storytelling. He grew up between Lagos and Ogun State before studying at ISCOM University Benin. His interest in music began in secondary school, where he wrote lyrics and saved money to record early demos in local studios.
He first worked behind the scenes as a songwriter for other artists, developing a disciplined approach to composition and vocal arrangement. In 2021 he began releasing music under his own name, introducing listeners to a style shaped by soft vocals, reflective themes and contemporary Afrobeats rhythms.
His breakthrough arrived in 2022 with Yawa No Dey End, a single that connected widely and later gained even greater traction through a remix with Joeboy. The success of the track led to the release of his debut EP Bitter Sweet, a project that examined love, resilience and personal growth through a mix of Afropop and soulful production.
Majeeed’s rising profile earned him recognition from major music platforms that spotlight emerging talent across the continent. In 2023 he followed up with his second EP Cheers To Life, collaborating with artists including Tiwa Savage and Bnxn. The project broadened his sound with dance-ready elements while maintaining the emotional clarity that defines his writing.
He continues to build his catalogue with collaborations, singles and performances, positioning himself as one of the promising young voices shaping modern Nigerian pop.
