Magix Enga
Bio
Born: January 1, 1992 (widely cited)
Magix Enga, born Njenga Chege, grew up in Kenya with an early obsession for rhythm and beat creation. Long before he became a household producer tag (“Magix Enga on the beat”), he was experimenting with homemade sounds and later trained in music production. His rise came during a period when Kenyan urban music was shifting, and he became one of the young producers leading that change.
His breakthrough came through producing major urban and Gengetone records that dominated clubs, radio, and street culture. Magix was especially important in shaping the raw, energetic sound associated with Nairobi youth music. His production style—heavy drums, catchy melodies, and aggressive bounce—became instantly recognizable.
He has worked with artists including Otile Brown, Timmy Tdat, Khaligraph Jones, Ethic Entertainment, Alvindo and many others. He built a reputation for making hits that felt both commercial and street-rooted.
Notable songs associated with his production include Dundaing, Watoto Na Pombe, Majaabu, Mapenzi Hisia, and Takataka. Many of these records became defining songs of an era and helped spread Kenyan urban sounds across East Africa.
