Maaseg Dagaati (Edwin Maaseg) is a Ghanaian rapper and Afrobeats artist, born on October 17, 1993, in Nandom, Upper West Region, Ghana. Widely known as “Nandom’s Finest,” he has emerged as a leading voice from Ghana’s savanna belt, using music as a vehicle to represent and elevate Dagaare culture on a national and global stage. His artistry is rooted in storytelling, often reflecting the realities, aspirations, and identity of his community.
Maaseg Dagaati’s music career began in the early 2010s, building momentum through grassroots recognition and independent releases that showcased his lyrical depth and authenticity. His breakthrough came with songs like “Ungrateful Motherfckers”* and later “Mama,” which gained wider attention after being featured on the popular Ghanaian TV series YOLO. In 2016, he won Afro Pop Song of the Year at the Progress Upper West Music Awards (PRUMAS), marking a significant milestone in his rise within the Ghanaian music scene.
In 2017, he released his debut EP Son Of The Savanna, a project that firmly established his identity as an artist blending hip-hop and Afrobeats with indigenous sounds and language.
