Luiza Fatima

Bio

Born 19 September 2001 in Windhoek, Namibia, Luiza is a Namibian singer, songwriter, and rising musical talent. She moved to South Africa at the age of 15, living independently ever since, and has made Johannesburg and Cape Town her second home.

Luiza’s love for music was nurtured from an early age. Growing up, she was inspired by her mother’s singing at church, which first introduced her to the power of voice, melody, and emotional expression. She began singing in toddlerhood, and by the age of 15, she was writing her own songs and posting YouTube covers. Her musical journey was later paused when her father was diagnosed with cancer, a deeply challenging period in her life. Following his passing, Luiza found her way back to music through the collection of cassettes, CDs, and vinyls he left behind, carrying forward the shared passion that had shaped her love for sound and storytelling.

Alongside her creative path, Luiza pursued academics with equal dedication. She completed high school at Groote Schuur High School in Cape Town, earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Johannesburg, and an Honours degree in Development Studies at the University of the Western Cape. She is currently a Master’s student in Development Studies at the University of Johannesburg. Despite the demands of her academic journey, music has always remained central to her identity.

Luiza has built a strong social media presence, with over 194K followers on TikTok and 57K followers on Instagram, where she shares her songwriting as a form of personal expression. She has been actively recording in the studio since returning to music and will be releasing songs soon, marking a new chapter in her artistic journey. Her sound is influenced by artists such as IAMDDB, Mariah the Scientist, Summer Walker, Shekhinah, Tems, Ayra Starr, and Tyla, blending contemporary R&B and soulful pop with her distinct vocal style.

Looking ahead, Luiza envisions changing the Namibian music industry, guided by her belief in originality and emotional honesty. While she continues to navigate the technical aspects of music production, her work is driven by love for music, personal healing, and the desire to share her voice with the world.
