Lindsey Abudei
Bio
Lindsey Abudei is a genre-fluid singer-songwriter and improviser whose contemporary sound is a blend of influences from Classical, Rock, Jazz, R&B,Folk and Electronica. Raised in Jos, Nigeria,she honed her craft through diverse experiences, from backing vocals for artists like South African Sonti Mndebele,to leading her own projects.
Her discography includes her 2013 EP "Brown", the acclaimed album "...And The Bass Is Queen."(2016) and the cinematic album, “Kaleidoscope”(2023). Her work has earned her accolades such as the RFI Prix Découvertes award and nominations for the 2020 Headies, Fak'ugesi 2022 and 2023 awards. She is an Art OMI Music Fellow, a KOSHKA Sound Fellow and a OneBeat Music Fellow and also an alum of prestigious residencies like the Red Bull Music Academy and Banff Jazz & Creative Music Residency.
She has worked on live and recording collaborations with Grammy award-nominated composers, Vijay Iyer and Morgan Guerin, British trumpeter, Tom Arthurs, and Nigerian artists like MI Abaga, Jesse Jagz,and Kahli Abdu.
Through her approach to sound and performance, as well as her interdisciplinary collaborations with photographers like Ghanaian Kwasi Darko and Ivorian Keren Lasme, Lindsey explores the intersection of music and other mediums, drawing inspiration from the fabric of the human experience.
