L'Algérino (Samir Djoghlal), born May 2, 1981, in Marseille, is a prominent French-Algerian rapper known for blending hip-hop with North African, specifically Chaoui, influences. Discovered by Akhenaton of IAM, he debuted in 2005, releasing successful albums like Mentalité pirate and International.

Early Life and Career

Background: Born to Algerian parents from Khenchela in Marseille's northern districts, he grew up in the Félix Pyat district.

Beginnings: Started rapping at age 11, appearing on local mixtapes and briefly working with groups like B-Vice Junior and 45 Niggaz.

Breakthrough: Renamed "L'Algérino" by Akhenaton (of IAM), he signed to 361 Records and released his debut album, Les Derniers Seront les Premiers, in 2005.
