Kojo Blak, born McDonald Adotey Braide, is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and Afro-fusion artist celebrated for his distinctive sound, which blends Afrobeat, contemporary African music, hip-hop, and melodic storytelling. Emerging as one of Ghana's promising new-generation talents, he continues to captivate audiences with his versatility, authenticity, and dynamic musical expression.
Born and raised in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra, Ghana, Kojo Blak developed a passion for music during his teenage years. Inspired by legendary entertainers such as Michael Jackson and E.T. Mensah, he began nurturing his artistic ambitions while still in school. His musical journey initially took shape at St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School, where he performed under the stage name Toy Boy as a member of the music group BMT.
Following his departure from the group, Kojo Blak embarked on a solo career and further refined his craft through active participation in the Christ Embassy Church choir. The experience allowed him to strengthen his vocal abilities, stage presence, and musical discipline, laying the foundation for his professional career. It was during this period that he adopted the stage name Kojo Blak, a name that would soon become increasingly recognised within Ghana's contemporary music scene.
His debut project, 757, introduced listeners to his unique artistic identity and showcased his ability to seamlessly fuse Afrobeat rhythms with elements of hip-hop, R&B, and modern African sounds. The project highlighted his songwriting prowess and creative versatility, establishing him as a compelling voice among the country's emerging artists.
Kojo Blak's growing reputation has led to collaborations with acclaimed Ghanaian musicians, including KiDi, further cementing his place within the industry and expanding his reach across the African music landscape.
