Kohen Jaycee

Kohen Jaycee, born Cohen Mwesigwa Jr., is a prominent Ugandan R&B singer, songwriter, and live performer who is widely recognized for blending contemporary urban R&B with deep African rhythms. Born and raised in Kampala, he grew up across Kamwokya, Ntinda, and Namugongo as the eldest of four children. He discovered his love for music early, heavily influenced by his mother's passion for music, and began performing acoustic sets and poetry while still in school.

He started his journey under the mentorship of celebrated Ugandan poet Kagayi Peter. He initially built a core fanbase by sharing acoustic song covers on Facebook and other social media platforms.

His debut EP, Wena, released in November 2019 under his independent label Ninyowe Music Africa, made history by becoming the first independent Ugandan R&B project to hit number 1 on the Spotify Uganda Top Albums chart.

He followed his debut with Wena Chapter 2 in 2021 and Heartstrings (a collaborative project with producer Axon) in 2022.

In late 2024, he released his highly acclaimed studio album, Rwebembera: The Raising Echoes, which earned regional recognition and was featured in Kenya's Daily Nation newspaper.

His most popular tracks include Siganye, Not Letting Go, Eva, and Ndi Naawe. He won the Best Rap Fusion Song accolade at the 2023 UG Hip Hop Awards for his collaboration on the song Ebyange with Lukas Blacc.

Known for his captivating vocals and smooth stage presence, he has become a staple at premier East African live events.
