Khokho Madlala
Bio
KHOKHO MADLALA is a the hidden face behind the lone powerful voice on Diepcity, she is a South African songwriter, recording artist and soundtracks composer who hails from Port Shepstone in KwaZulu Natal a town situated 120km from Durban.
She fell inlove with music when it gave her a voice literally because her husky, asthmatic voice was hindering her speech as a kid. She comes from humble beginnings of family choir consisting of 13 siblings, upgraded to local choirs at a tender age of 7 and never looked back. The choirs upgraded to corporate gigs with ensembles which led her straight to her solo career as a vocalist, songwriter, thespian and soundtracks composer.
Khokho Madlala’s sound is imbedded in ancestral contemporary Jazz expanding when necessary, the sound was born from the family’s love for Amahubo, Ingoma, UBUNGOMA, Zion and Afqridan music experts contributed severely to her sound for example she performed with Lady Smith Black Mambazo, Mbuso Khoza, Mafikizolo, The Soil just to name a few which afforded her to be the youngest African Music explorer in most rooms her entire life.
