KBG

Bio

KBG (Kelvin Before Gumbi) is a musician who was born and raised in Malawi. He is the founding member of Nyali Muzik. His passion for music started off at a tender age. Back then, he would use rap as a way of communicating what was on his mind. In 2007, he was baptised. At 19, he attended a Christian conference (youth festival) at Blantyre Baptist Church. During the event, he heard David Kalilani sharing his testimony about his turn around. His association with the church made him reflect the word of God in his songs.

His career as a recording artist began in 2007. He has released a couple of tracks, including ‘Yesu Khristu ndi Nyatwa’ from his underground album ‘Fight the Good Fight’. The album's message is based on Ephesians 6. He is still working on new songs as well as pursuing his passion to proclaim Christ in his songs.

He has been involved in quite a number of projects. He has worked with Timveni TV to produce a show called 'Hanging Out' (2012), he hosted and managed an event called Mad Love Lounge (2011-2012). He has also produced, performed and scripted adverts for Arise Inc (2012). He has opened for US artist Sho Baraka and the 116 Clique. He is a regular performer at Youth Fest, an annual event hosted by Blantyre Baptist Church. he has also represented Malawi at Afro Fest in 2012, an event hosted in Cape Town, South Africa with the aim of uniting artists across the continent.

Besides music, he has a Diploma in Computer Engineering with New Horizons (2007). He also has a technical background in Information Technology (BSc in IT from the University of Malawi, Polytechnic in 2011) which gives him the capability to produce, record, mix and master vocals.
