Kabelo "Bouga Luv" Mabalane

Bio

Kabelo Mabalane: Bouga Luv, Kwaito Legend, and All-Round Entertainer

Kabelo Mabalane, born 15 December 1976, remains one of South Africa’s most recognisable kwaito figures. Known to fans as Bouga 2 Shoes or Bouga Luv, he rose to prominence as part of the groundbreaking trio TKZee. His career has placed him on stages alongside global heavyweights including Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Ja Rule and Rihanna, while his entrepreneurial streak saw him co-own the independent label Faith Records. He also became a familiar face on television as a judge on SA’s Got Talent.

Mabalane launched his solo run in 2000 with Everybody Watching, an album that cemented his identity outside the TKZee brand through hits such as "Pantsula For Life" and "Amasheleni". He followed it with Rebel With A Cause, which featured "It's My House", and And the Beat Goes On, home of the radio staple "Zonke". Both releases achieved multi-platinum success, and in 2004 he earned the Kora Award for Best Southern Africa Male Artist.

Away from music, Kabelo built a reputation as one of South Africa’s most committed celebrity athletes. He has finished the Comrades Marathon several times, appeared on the cover of Runner’s World, and served as a SASCOC Olympic Ambassador. His move into broadcasting saw him host a lifestyle talk show on SABC2, a role that won him the Best Newcomer Television Presenter award in 2010. With TKZee, he also performed on one of the country’s biggest stages — the opening ceremony of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Mabalane’s personal journey is closely tied to his early years at St Stithian’s College, where he studied alongside future TKZee partners Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala and Zwai Bala. In 2013, he married actress Gail Nkoane, and the couple now has two children, Zoe and Khumo.

His catalogue includes Everybody Watching, Rebel With A Cause, And the Beat Goes On, Bouga Luv Album, Exodus, I'm A King, and the Immortal Vol. 1–3 series. With TKZee, standout releases include the singles "Take It Eazy", "Phalafala" and "Shibobo", as well as the albums Halloween, Guz 2001, Trinity, Guz Hits and Coming Home.
