Bio

The Joyce Jenje Makwenda Collection/Archives (JJMCA) is a private archive on Zimbabwe’s social history covering different discourses such as music, sports, fashion, entrepreneurship, politics, gender organizations, culture, arts and crafts. There are over 5000 LPs and singles in the archive.

JJMCA provides a wide range of services from research support for students through to providing an experienced Research consultant to carry out work locally and internationally and the Residency Programme run with the archive as the base. The JJMCA blog has all the current activities and exploration of research material.

The JJMCA provides access to a rich archive of photographs collected over the years from the research undertaken by JJMCA. It has audio and video interviews of a wide spectrum of Zimbabwean people from before independence through to current time on a variety of topics of socio-political and cultural significance. It features articles written on the research matter by the archivist and researchers participating in the process of archiving the material.
