Joseph Alexander Brown


Joseph Alexander is a Zambian RnB artist based in Swaziland. Brown began playing the guitar and piano when he was 12 years old in junior high school. Born to Zambian parents, Joseph was born in the U.S. The R'n’B musician is also a singer, songwriter, poet and instrumentalist. He attended Ibex Hill School and realised his skills when he was 15 years old and he decided to embrace them. His father was against the idea as he thought it would interfere with his studies. He felt determined to continue despite several attempts by his parents to stop his dreams. He studied music at the Yamaha School of Music besides his professional CA qualification (ACCA) from the Oxford Brookes University in the U.K.

After graduating from tertiary, he moved to Swaziland because of a job offer after several working stints in his home country. While in Swaziland, he decided to pursue his music career and it worked. This landed him the title of being an RnB king as he has serenaded fans in many shows throughout the country. The opportunity to play and sing at various platforms helped him note the pros and cons of the music industry locally.

The soulful singer and instrumentalist has performed at a number of big shows and collaborated with reputable artists on stage. Some of the shows he has performed in include the MTN Bushfire Festival, Sibebe Friday Night Live, Rooted Souls, Arts Awake and in many other events. He has shared the stage with Kirk Franklin, Zahara, Idols East and Southern Africa runner up, Trinah Musonda and other artists. In Swaziland, Joseph has worked with top artists such as Floewe, Mozaik, KrTc, Mr Kangaroo and Chakalaka, to name a few.

In 2016 he worked in collaboration with a South African artist Africa Cele to release his single. He earned fame thrpugh a song called 'Ngiyakutsandza'.

To date the name Joseph Alexander Brown does not only hold a lot of weight but also brings smiles to the faces of soulful music lovers in Swaziland.
