Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI)

Bio

Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) is one of the largest international networks for music and youth. It was founded in 1945 in Brussels, Belgium. The idea behind its formation is to enable young people to develop through music across all boundaries. It involves more than 5 million young musicians who participate in music related activities under the motto “Making a Difference Through Music”. These young artists engage themselves in more than 36 000 arts activities.

It is affiliated to Music Crossroads, a unique youth empowerment that supports youth (aged between 15 and 25) with musical opportunities in countries such as Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia.

For the past 60 years, JMI has been using music to get rid of social, geographical, racial and economic divides and thereby creating a platform for intercultural dialogue.
