Jay C

Jay C (real name Joel Chitate) is one of the uprising Zimbabwean dancehall musicians. He became popular through his ‘Actor Haafe’ lyrical chant. His songs ‘Actor Haafe’ and ‘Bugatti’ earned him a mark in the country’s music scene. His music career started in 2003 with Boomslang Productions. His music began to make an impact when he moved to Bigyaadz in 2006.

In 2004, he recorded his debut album. This was followed by the release of his second album ‘Chachaya’ (2011). In 2013, he toured the UK with artists such as Freeman, Lady Squanda, Tocky Vibes and Ras Pompy. His third album ‘Speed’ was released in July 2014. It featured songs such as ‘Waindivhairira’, ‘Kakuchemachema’, ‘Dale Dale’, ‘Momz’, ‘Bhonzo’, ‘Makazoita Se’ and many others.
