Jaguar
Bio
Jaguar (born Charles Njagua Kanyi) is a musician and entrepreneur from Nairobi, Kenya. He is also a philanthropist and member of parliament in the Starehe constituency.
He grew up in Nairobi where he attended school. Jaguar lost his mother when he was eleven. He worked several odd jobs to earn a living. With support from his friends and work as a a tout in Nairobi’s Matatus (Public Service Vehicles), Jaguar completed school.
He released his first single 'Kipepeo' under Main Switch Studios in 2013. This was followed by ‘Kioo’, 'Furaha' in 2004. He later joined Ogopa Deejays in 2005 where he released several singles such as, 'Fanya Mambo', 'Nikuskize', 'Unaniwasha', 'Kigeugeu' and 'Nimetoka Mbali'.
His producer Philip Makanda left Ogopa Deejays and formed Main Switch Studios in 2013. Jaguar later joined the Main Switch Studios. A research conducted by International Certification Association (ICERTIAS) named Jaguar the best performer and most influential artist in Kenya in 2014.
Jaguar was elected into Parliament during the Kenyan general elections in August 2017.
