Abdul Razak Issahaku, known professionally as Iwan, is a Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste celebrated for his smooth rhythms, conscious lyrics, and unique style. Hailing from Kumbungu in the Northern Region of Ghana, Iwan—also called “Lyrical Gunshot”—has carved a niche in Ghanaian music with his authentic sound and lyrical prowess. He studied Theatre Arts, Music, and Dance at the University of Ghana, Legon, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and credits his education with shaping his artistry and stagecraft.

Iwan’s musical journey began in his school years, where he performed at inter-school events, funfairs, and variety shows under the name Popa Razy, earning early recognition for his skill and energy. Known for his humility and creativity, he honed his craft while working as a sound engineer, developing a deep understanding of music production and collaborating with producers from across the globe. His early singles, including “Party” and “Who’s Bad,” showcased his signature mix of reggae, dancehall, and socially conscious lyrics, earning him the nickname “Rhyme Dealer.”

In 2010, Iwan made a strong entrance into Ghana’s music scene with his debut album Iwan – My Time, which introduced audiences to his dynamic voice and compelling songwriting. He quickly became the first artist to win an award in the reggae/dancehall category in Ghana, a recognition of his influence and pioneering role. Over the years, Iwan has collected numerous accolades, including Reggae Video of the Year (Vodafone 4syte Video Awards, 2010), Reggae Song of the Year (Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, 2011), Best Reggae Album (Bass Awards, 2013), and Best Songwriter (Bass Awards, 2015).

Known for his humble nature and relentless work ethic, Iwan continues to be a force in Ghanaian music, using his platform to entertain, inspire, and uplift fans both at home and abroad. His stage name, an acronym for “I Win Always Naturally,” reflects his philosophy of perseverance, authenticity, and excellence—a mindset that has guided him from the streets of Kumbungu to stages across the world.
